Ann Paolini will head sales at the luxury online consignment shop.

Web-only luxury consignment store The RealReal has hired Ann Paolini as executive vice president of sales. The RealReal is No. 554 in the Internet Retailer Second 500 Guide.

Paolini comes from The Neiman Marcus Group Inc., No. 39 in the Top 500 Guide, where she had worked for the last 25 years, her new employer says.

Her most recent job for the luxury department store chain was senior vice president, managing director, of Last Call, the chain’s discounted luxury item brand. She oversaw a “fourfold” increase of Last Call’s online business, The RealReal says. Before that, she was senior vice president of stores, a job she held from 2004 through 2011.

“I believe Ann’s wealth of knowledge and valuable understanding of the luxury industry from both the designer and client perspective will bring the overall consignor and customer experience to a new level,” says Julie Wainwright, founder and CEO of The RealReal. “Ann’s tenure at Neiman Marcus will be invaluable in building personal and long-lasting relationships with our consignors, which will continue to set us apart from other online luxury consignment sites.”

The RealReal launched in 2011 and had Internet Retailer-estimated sales of $15.1 million in 2012, up 1003.6% from the year before. In August, the retailer said it had entered the Japanese market, The RealReal’s first foray outside the United States and Canada.
