The web-only merchant will open a temporary bricks-and-mortar store in Kentucky.

Keeping with its flash-sale roots, Gilt Group Inc. will open a temporary bricks-and-mortar store later this month. The web-only retailer says the store will sell designer brands at up to 90% off retail.

The store will remain open from June 28 to July 28 and is in Louisville, KY, near Gilt.com’s largest distribution center, which opened in 2010. The e-retailer will call the store The Gilt.com Designer Outlet.

“We are excited to expand our presence in Louisville and bring Gilt.com to life for our loyal local members,” says Christopher Halkyard, Gilt.com’s chief supply chain officer.

With the opening of the physical store, Gilt joins a handful of other web-only retailers that are using physical stores in some capacity. Men’s apparel e-retailer Bonobos now has six shops that let customers try on its styles before ordering them online. A seventh store is planned. Eyeglasses e-retailer Warby Parker has three retail showrooms in New York and Boston for its wares.

Gilt is No. 54 in Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Guide. Bonobos is No. 405.
