The facility will help the chain serve its online customers.

Kohl’s Corp. will build a customer service center in Dallas that will help to serve online shoppers. The department store chain, No. 26 in Internet Retailer’s 2013 Top 500 Guide, says the 240,000-square-foot facility will open in late spring of 2014.

The announcement of the new customer service center comes less than a month after Kohl’s reported that its first quarter e-commerce sales increased about 31.1% year over year to $329 million. That compares to a comparable-store sales decrease of 1.9%, and a total sales decline of 0.9%.

“The addition of our new facility and associates will continue to ensure Kohl’s delivers a seamless, positive shopping experience for our customers,” says Kevin Mansell, Kohl’s chairman, president and CEO.”

The facility, which will include two buildings, also will serve the retailer’s Kohl’s Charge payment card program. Kohl’s says it will hire at least 300 employees to work in the Dallas office.

The chain also operates customer service centers in San Antonio, TX, and Menomonee Falls, WI. In Texas, the chain says it also has an e-commerce fulfillment center in DeSoto, a Dallas suburb.
