An IRCE speaker shares how Newegg approaches its growing global sales.

Enticed by potential international e-commerce sales, many U.S. e-retailers are looking beyond U.S. borders for revenue growth. But before they embark on that path, it may help to heed the experience of others.

Lee Cheng, senior vice president and chief legal offer at Newegg Inc., will share the retailer’s international e-commerce insights on June 5 at the Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition 2013 during a presentation entitled “Overseas opportunities: What all e-retailers need to know.”

Cheng says his presentation will broadly highlight Newegg’s international expansion experience. “I will also relate how Newegg views international opportunities and the models they have and plan to utilize,” Cheng says. He’ll also discuss trends in global e-retailing. Newegg, No. 13 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, has dedicated e-commerce sites in Canada and China.

One such trend is e-commerce’s ascendancy in China. According to the Internet Retailer Asia 500, China is Asia’s biggest e-commerce market and could outpace the U.S. as the single largest national online retail market as soon as this year. Newegg is No. 28 in the 2013 Internet Retailer Asia 500.

Attendees who watch the presentation will have a better sense of the opportunities and challenges in international markets Newegg operates in and gain an understanding of how to create their own expansion programs.

Internet Retailer editors asked Cheng to speak because of his expertise overseeing legal, compliance, ethics, government relations and risk management matters at Newegg. He initiated and organized the launch of Newegg Books, Newegg’s entry into the textbooks category.
