The rental car company launches an iPhone app to ease reservations.

Dollar Rent A Car has launched its first mobile commerce app for iPhone and iPod Touch users. The travel app enables customers to quickly make reservations at Dollar locations worldwide, modify existing reservations and plan their trips with “Around Town City Guides.”

“We view this offering as a natural extension of our existing mobile strategy which has seen tremendous growth this past year,” says Scott Thompson, president, CEO and chairman of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc. “We expect similar results from our new, state-of-the-art app which provides customers with the convenience of booking on the go at any Dollar location worldwide.”

The mobile app stores existing reservations and customer details so renters can view them at anytime or reserve additional offerings such as a car seat or GPS. The “Around Town City Guides” feature ideas and specials for dining, playing and staying at leisure destinations so customers can plan their trips easily with recommended restaurants, activities and hotels while saving money.

Dollar Rent A Car built the app with FKQ Advertising + Marketing. The app is available for free in Apple Inc.’s app store.

Dollar Rent A Car has approximately 570 locations in 61 countries including approximately 260 locations in the United States and Canada.
