Vladimir Dolgov also worked at Russian e-retailer Ozon.ru.

EBay Inc. has appointed Vladimir Dolgov as general manager of eBay Marketplaces for the Russian Federation. The job is a newly created position.

“Vladimir’s appointment reflects the increasing importance of the Russian market to eBay, and demonstrates eBay’s commitment to growing its business in Russia,” the online marketplace says in a statement.

Dolgov was country director for Google Russia prior to taking the new eBay job. Google hired him in 2005, eBay says, and he managed all Russian operations for the search engine giant. Before Google, Dolgov was CEO of Ozon.ru, an e-retailer that styles itself as the Amazon of Russia.

Ozon, No. 90 in the Internet Retailer Europe 400 Guide, last year raised $100 million, some of it from Japan-based e-commerce operator Rakuten.

EBay says it has operated in Russia since March 2010.
