The company plans to hire employees to work in France and the U.K.

E-commerce services firm Commerce Guys said today it had received $5 million in venture capital in a funding round led by Paris-based Alven Capital.

Commerce Guys says its work focuses on Drupal Commerce, an open source content management system that the company’s retailer clients use for their online stores. Dupal Commerce enables e-retailers to perform such tasks as uploading catalogs, accepting payments and integrating with shipping services, Commerce Guys says.

Commerce Guys will use the new capital in part to hire 30 employees, half based in United States and half in the United Kingdom and France. The company already employs 37, the employees split between Paris and the company’s office in Jackson, MI.

Also taking part in the funding round were Finland-based Open Ocean Capital and France-based ISAI.

” We believe that Drupal Commerce is positioned to be a leading solution in the e-commerce software industry,” says Tom Henriksson, partner at Open Ocean and a Commerce Guys strategic committee member. ” We are excited to support Commerce Guys in developing a rapidly scalable business rooted in the vibrant open-source Drupal community.”
