Stone Edge provides order and customer management software.

Monsoon Commerce Inc., which sells technology to help retailers manage sales on online marketplaces, announced today it has bought order and customer management software company Stone Edge Technologies Inc. in an all-cash transaction. The purchase price was not disclosed.

The acquisition helps Monsoon beef up its offerings by giving sellers access to Stone Edge’s shopping cart, order management and supply chain technology. The acquisition also gives Stone Edge clients access to Monsoon offerings to help those retailers sell on marketplaces such as the ones operated by Amazon, No. 1 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, and eBay.

Stone Edge works with online stores hosted on e-commerce platforms including eBay ProStores, Magento, Miva, Volusion, 3DCart and Yahoo Stores. It also works with 2,500 web, store and catalog merchants, including about a dozen merchants in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, and is compatible with more than 50 online shopping carts.

“With this acquisition, we provide our sellers with a truly comprehensive solution that improves their efficiency and expands their reach,” says Brian Elliott, CEO of Monsoon Commerce. “The Stone Edge Order Manager is the perfect complement to our existing toolset.”

Stone Edge order management tools helps sellers automate order processing, enabling them to perform such tasks as searching by name to quickly locate orders, managing backorders, handle returns and flagging or canceling orders from problem customers. It also works with services such as Authorize.net and PayPal to process payments.

“Joining Monsoon Commerce was a natural fit for Stone Edge,” says Barney Stone, president and founder of Stone Edge Technologies. “There has been a growing interest from our customers for solutions that will help increase their sales on the major online marketplaces like Amazon.com and eBay. The suite of products and services provided by Monsoon Commerce addresses this growing demand.”
