Kiwi, which offers luxury rooms online, aims to offer easier web access for mobile consumers.

Tony hotel-booking site Kiwi Collection has launched a mobile site, aiming to provide easier web access to travelers not sitting in front of PCs.

The company, which developed the mobile site with m-commerce technology vendor Mobify, focused the mobile site on the fundamentals a consumer’s needs, says Igor Faletski, Mobify CEO.

“Kiwi Collection had to provide mobile functionality to enable mobile users to check their booking status and complete booking on the go from their phone,” he says. “If you go to a regular e-commerce site it’s slow and hard to navigate on the phone.”

Using the emerging HTML5 programming language, Mobify stripped down Kiwi Collection’s site. The mobile site features a search box at the top of the screen, the same vivid image hero shots as the conventional e-commerce site, and buttons that link to more information about Kiwi Collection, contact information and the full e-commerce site.

Since its launch earlier this month, Kiwi Collection says it has seen a boost in its mobile revenue. However, the travel company declined to offer details.
