63% of 84 retailers reported a year-over-year rise in sales Nov. 1 through Dec. 21, according to a survey by Shop.org and Forrester Research Inc. The average online revenue among respondents during that period this year was $132 million, the average growth rate was 9.8%, and the best performance was among mid-size and multi-channel retailers, the study found.

40% of retailers in the survey said their web sales rose by more than 10%; 23% said web sales rose as much as 10%; 5% said web sales were flat; 17% said they decreased by as much as 10%; and 15% said web sales declined by more than 10%.

Among multi-channel retailers, 62% said web sales increased; 2% said they were flat; and 36% said web sales decreased. Among web-only retailers, 50% said sales increased; 15% said sales were flat; and 35% said sales decreased.

Shop.org is the online retailing division of the National Retail Federation, a retail industry trade group.
