Cellfire Inc., a national mobile coupon and discount offer service, has signed an agreement with GameStop Corp. to distribute mobile coupons redeemable at more than 4,200 GameStop retail locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

GameStop, a video game and entertainment software retailer, is partnering with Cellfire to reach mobile game players with electronic coupons. Instead of clipping paper coupons or printing them from the Internet, GameStop store shoppers can show the coupon displayed on their cell phone at the register to receive a discount.

As the mobile web emerges as a viable marketing channel, reaching our customers through their cell phones is a natural progression, says John Brittell, vice president of e-commerce and direct marketing at GameStop, No. 116 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

To gain more brand traction, boost sales and introduce the growing number of casual game players to different genres and systems, GameStop created two exclusive offers for Cellfire users. Shoppers can take advantage of the GameStop deals by subscribing to the Cellfire mobile coupon service at Cellfire.com or they can text keywords to a designated number to have the respective offer clipped to their Cellfire account where it can be accessed on-demand, Cellfire says.

Game players can get an extra 30% credit when trading in or exchanging games or get 20% off the purchase of any used game.

The availability of GameStop offers on Cellfire is a victory for gamers nationwide, says Brent Dusing, Cellfire’s CEO. The targeted, interactive and measurable capabilities of the mobile platform make it an ideal way for retailers like GameStop to engage on-the-go consumers, interact with them through a personal device that’s always nearby and, ultimately, drive them to transact.

Shoppers access the Cellfire mobile coupon service through a mobile application that resides on their cell phone, or through a mobile web browser. Cellfire is a free service, although standard data or usage charges might apply depending on the carrier or data plan.
