Daniel Griesemer, head of sales and marketing for Coldwater Creek Inc.’s web, store and catalog channels since 2005, has been promoted to co-president and chief operating officer.

In filling the new position of chief operating officer, Griesemer will now oversee all distribution center and customer contact center operations as well as the company’s sales, marketing and national retail store expansion plans. Coldwater Creek is No. 53 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

Griesemer will share the office of the president with Georgia Shonk-Simmons, who has held the titles of president and chief merchandising officer since 2002. Shonk-Simmons continues to lead the retailer’s merchandise, sourcing and creative operations.

Griesemer, a 24-year veteran of the retail apparel industry, joined Coldwater Creek in 2001 as senior vice president of retail and was promoted to executive vice president of retail in 2004. In 2005, he was promoted again to executive vice president of sales and marketing, responsible for all aspects of sales and marketing for the company’s Internet, store and catalog channels. Prior to Coldwater Creek, Griesemer served in management positions at retailers including Gap Inc. and Federated Department Stores Inc.
